The roots of Chief Executive Boards trace back to 1991, when Dr. Ronald Wiley, Ph.D. began organizing local boards of CEO's and business owners who were interested in acting as each others' advisors. The name of the organization became Chief Executive Boards in 1997.
In 1999 Chief Executive Summits were added to the list of services offered to the membership. These national meetings of local board members both broaden and deepen the idea pool and executive networks of CEB members. In 2000, Chief Executive Retreats were offered to the members and their spouses. These business/pleasure events have become an important and popular part of CEB's offerings.
In 2004 Chief Executive Boards became Chief Executive Boards International, and relocated its headquarters to Greenville, SC.
