What I Learned at the
Spring Summit
One of our members takes great notes at
CEBI Summits, then actually goes home, reviews them and acts on those
ideas. He shared the following with us -- all ideas and
realizations he came across at the 2007 Spring Summit:
- Allow kids to make mistakes even though it might take
longer
- We all learn at work through our mistakes
- It is amazing what you can accomplish by giving other people credit
- One of the guys sends a package of coffee out to his customer every time they have to issue a credit as an added way to say they are sorry for the inconvenience their mistake
created. The bags of coffee have his company name on them. Very inexpensive to do and makes a big impact.
- When you process an order wrong in your shop it really costs you 3 times to make it
- The first time you made it wrong
- The second time to make it over
- And a third time for the time making the part the second time because that time could have been used to make a new order!
- As an employee, if you always agree with me then one of us is dispensable
- Rather than catching all the things our employees do wrong, our goal should be to catch all the things that our employees do right. This is the total focus of one of our very successful members
- A pat on the back can mean more than a buck an hour increase in pay
- One hour of planning will save you 8 hours of work
- A Plan – visualize your future desire and develop the steps to make it happen
- Always think Big – and make sure you are doing the things you should be doing
-- not the things that waste your time
- If you do not have an estate plan set up, get it done
yesterday. And by an estate attorney
- Figure out what’s right with your business, expand on it and the bad stuff will go away
- Need to educate your employees about the value of your benefits!
- Break down of the goals of today’s workforce
- 92% just want to come to work and get a paycheck
- 6% are interested in bonus incentives to increase their pay
- 2% are interested in being a business owner some day
- Of that 2%. only a small percentage ever will and an even smaller percentage will be successful
Our thanks to Tim Gase who shared these
notes with us, and to the dozen or so members and presenters who
shared these ideas with Tim at the Summit. Do you have the Fall
Summit on your calendar?
