Joyce Malanga to Retire as
CEBI Manager of Member Services
It’s been a pleasure working with Joyce Malanga for the past 3 years, and we know our members have appreciated her, as well.
Joyce is retiring from her position of Member Services Manager at Chief Executive Boards International at the end of April. Her husband, Vin, has reduced his work schedule to only two days a week and they are looking forward to retirement filled with more
boating, golf, tennis, travel and grandchildren's activities.
During her 3-year tenure at CEBI, Joyce has helped us improve the CEBI member experience, resulting in higher member retention, satisfaction and value. She has evolved our business into a smoothly automated, consistent process. We know you agree that she has been an absolute delight to work with.
Joyce's last day will be April 30. Please join us in thanking Joyce for doing an outstanding job as Member Services Manager the last three years and in wishing Joyce and Vin a wonderful and fulfilling retirement.
Feel free to call or email her with your best wishes.

Are You in "Leadership
Gridlock"?
In working with mid-sized businesses over
the long term, it's not uncommon to see a syndrome I call "leadership
gridlock". This generally happens over a long period of either flat sales
or moderate (single-digit %) growth. Symptoms include:
- You have some senior or middle managers reporting to the CEO or owner
- They've been there a long time
- They've succeeded mostly through hard work, knowing the business, and
tenacity
- They're undereducated -- they don't have the educational background you'd
now require if hiring a new person
- They're doing OK
- They're pretty much "maxed out" as far as performance is
concerned
- They're unpromotable -- they don't have the horsepower to take the next
step up the organizational chart
- They're not developing their own subordinates as replacements for
themselves
The toughest part of this situation is that they're actually doing OK --
they're not failing, they're not doing badly, they're just not promotable. And
you don't have a good reason to do anything about them.
Or do you? Read

Dr. Robert A. Lawson, Ph.D.
to Speak at Spring Summit
Robert A. Lawson, Ph.D., Professor of
Economics and George H. Moor Chair of Economics at Capital University will
again address the Spring Summit on April 24, 2008. Many of you will
remember Bob's entertaining and enlightening remarks at the Spring 2006
Summit. He'll give us some insight into the current US and world economy,
an
assessment of the Presidential candidates' economic platforms and some
suggestions on business strategies that fit the current economic
times.
See you in Columbus,
