Chief Executive Boards International Update

Welcome PDA Readers

Thanks to some reader feedback, you'll notice a change in layout of this month's newsletter.  A Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) user let us know that the column format of the newsletter was presenting the sidebar first, requiring a lot of scrolling before he got to the main articles.  Swapping the sidebar to the right serves up the main body (left-hand column) of the newsletter to PDA users first.  Actually, it appears to work better for GMail users, as well.

This is the "$50 tip of the week" for those of you considering or publishing E-Newsletters.    With all the user platforms out there, anything you publish may look radically different from user to user, and you may want to do some cross-platform testing.  Please let us know if you have an opinion.

Keeping Your Message in Front of Prospects

You may believe you're on your customers' and prospects' minds.  You may be surprised that they've forgotten you and, in fact, are thinking instead about someone else who provides similar products or services to yours.

Where you want to be is at the front of your prospects' and customers' minds.   Click on the icon above for a video article on what Front-of-Mind is all about.

Here are 8 places to find content for an E-Newsletter....

It's Better to be Alone Than in Bad Company

A member brought up a trust concern with one of his employees, and his board quickly provided some mentorship on the corrosive effects of keeping people of bad character on your payroll.  There is no excuse or resolution for a breach of trust -- it's time to terminate the employee and get on with life.

More on  what one member's mom had to say about people of bad character.......

Guest Blog Article -- "I Focused on My Strengths

CEBI member David Dorn, founder of Red Oak Medical, a provider of specialty medical equipment, took some advice from his Board and was very happy with the outcome.

According to David,

"A key piece of advice I got from my CEBI Board members was to focus on my strengths, or what I do best – and delegate
all other tasks."

More on how this worked out for David.....

And, as always, we're interested in your ideas for newsletter articles.  Would you perhaps write a guest Editorial?  Please let us know if you have ideas or material you'd be willing to share with others.

Thanks,

When is Your Independence Day?

A fascinating article appeared on another writer's blog on the 4th of July.  Bernadette Doyle asks, "Chances are you started your business to enjoy more autonomy and freedom in your business. So, in the words of Dr. Phil, 'How's that working for ya?'"

For lots of business owners, not all that well.

Are you a person who really needs a better plan? Who owns a job and would like to own a business? Who needs someone (or several someones) to help you with that?
