Serenity - Southern Style

You may recall the well-known Serenity Prayer:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
At a recent CEBI Retreat, we were talking about a situation that was something a member was probably not going to be able to change.

At that point, Bucky Glover summed it up with one of my new favorite "southernisms". A relative of his used to describe such a situation by saying,
"It's like trying to teach a pig to sing. You frustrate yourself, and you piss the pig off."
It might at times take prayer for the wisdom to know the difference. Once you've accepted that it's something you can't change, remember this southernism. At least it'll make you laugh about it -- it does every time I think about it.

Here's a link to my previous all-time favorite southernism: "
Don't worry about the mule going blind, load the wagon
"

Thanks,
